Global English returns from U.S. Naval Nuclear Submarine Base New London, Groton Connecticut

Hi Gloablers! I am back from New England where I visited one of my past homes in New Port, Rhode Island. It was truly cool being a Yankee again, and, admittedly, the most interesting aspect of my trip was staying on my brother's yacht--The Zep Tepi--at the nuclear submarine base in New London, Connecticut. The experience was awesome because I felt I had returned to my military/overseas brat (sorry Dad, I mean my Navy Junior) roots. Now hear this: Every morning (0800 hours) I awoke to the Star Spangled Banner, and at sunset I stood on deck in silence to Retreat. How cool is that? Well, to me, it is ueber cool. I think the people who are a part of Operation Star Spangled Banner, and most of all, my father, the late honorable U.S. Navy Captain John Chelsea Allman, would be proud that we--the crew on my brother's boat--would drop everything, and spring--asap--to the deck and stand at attention with right hands over our hearts to both of these beautiful American military practices. I salute both my father and my brother for serving our country. Amusingly, by being on this magnificent naval submarine base, I felt I had returned home again from all of my uprooted past to where I truly belonged...proudly in the presence of the greatest and most powerful American source--the U.S. military. Anyway, before I am accused of bird walking too much, let me end by telling you that I did love seeing the lovely black nuclear submarines. They remind me of a pod of black whales as they surface so mysteriously and unexpectedly yet so silently and powerfully. Well, bye for now and whoever, wherever, and however you are out there in cyberspace--never forget that we are well protected by these surprisingly silent moving global creatures...Sweet! Okay, now next month I will return to my west coast roots in sunny, Coronado, California. Yes, I am also a California girl--so I'm a westie and eastie...OAO, GE
